Language Instruction (LINC)

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada

(LINC Program)

“Success in Canada begins with learning English.”

Our LINC courses help newcomers improve their proficiency in English to facilitate their successful  integration to Canada and become fully independent. We offer a supportive, friendly and welcoming learning environment where committed, dedicated and hardworking students can learn the language skills to:

  • Communicate effectively in a variety of different situations (shopping, banking, medical appointments, social interactions, landlord/tenant, emergencies, making a complaint, asking for help, etc.)
  • Learn about Canadian culture/society/values
  • Conduct their own affairs
  • Access the job market
  • Further upgrade their education

We offer full and part time classes for beginner to advanced learners.  All classrooms are computer equipped, and students have access to computers both during and after class. Free childminding is available for preschool children (6 mo. to 5 y.o) of adult language learners. All our language instructors are TESL certified and experienced in adult education.

CHILDMINDING PROGRAM:

Our LINC students benefit from free childminding services for children from 6 months to 5 years of age. Infant, toddlers and preschoolers play and learn in a safe and supportive environment. Our Childminding facilities offer a safe and welcoming environment fully equipped with learning materials, toys and a kitchen. The Mennonite New Life Centre of Toronto / LINC Childminding Program is in full compliance with the National LINC Childminding Requirements, and is monitored by CMAS.

Like adults, children often struggle to learn a new language and get used to a new way of life. Our childminding staff understand the settlement challenges of newcomer children and provide newcomer families with the support they need to adapt and succeed. All our childminding staff hold Early Childhood Education (ECE) qualifications. Spaces are limited.
